Sauvignon Blanc

Chateau St. Jean
Sonoma County Fumé Blanc 2010 . . . . . 8.99
88/100 - Our score.
The St. Jean Fumé is one of the most consistent
Sauvignon Blancs out there. This 2010 bottling keeps the streak going,
with fresh and clean flavors of citrus and
melon along with pretty floral overtones and subtle
minerality. There's a good bit of weight
on the palate which is balanced out nicely by the bright acidity. Try
this with fresh seafood pasta. (California)
Peirson-Meyer
"Ryan's Vineyard"
Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2010 . . . . . 25.99
92/100 - Wine Advocate. "Robbie Meyer and Alan Peirson come
across as unassuming, but a great deal of passion lies
behind their calm, easygoing personalities.
Meyer and Peirson first met when they both worked at
Peter Michael Winery. Meyer tends to focus on
the winemaking, while Peirson’s time is spent most heavily in the
vineyards. The Sauvignon Blanc is fermented
with natural yeasts and vinified in neutral oak
barrels. The 2010 Sauvignon Blanc Ryan’s Vineyard is
first class all the way. It boasts fabulous definition
in its bouquet and beautifully articulated layers of
varietal, mineral-laced fruit. Lemon,
mint, crushed rocks and sage linger on the finish. This
is easily one of the very finest Sauvignons being made in Napa Valley
today. With some time in the glass, the wine is simply striking.
Anticipated maturity: 2012-2016." (California)
