88/100 - Our score.
90/100 - Wine Advocate. "This hugely popular wine spends 12
months in both French and American oak. Sexy and endearing, it
offers a deep ruby/purple color, full-bodied, corpulent flavors and
abundant berry fruit, pepper and spice notes. Drink this
seductive, full throttle, classic Zinfandel
over the next several years." (California)
Amapola Creek
"Monte Rosso Vineyard"
Sonoma Valley Zinfandel 2008. . . . . 28.99
92/100 - Our score.
Amapola Creek is owned and operated by famed Sonoma
vintner Richard Arrowood. This single-site Zinfandel
comes from the famed Monte Rosso vineyard, which
happens to sit right next to the Amapola winery! This excellent
bottle of power-Zinfandel, features dark and
jammy Sonoma fruit flavors along with black pepper,
fresh turned earth, sweet toast and cocoa. Only 293
cases were made of this complex and elegantly
balanced wine. We tasted this a few weeks ago and promptly
bought everything available in Chicago - which
ain't much, so don't wait too long! (California)
